Offerings

LIC aims to collect, store, and disseminate information besides offering computerised services to users, to coordinate efforts for suitable collection development and also to reduce unnecessary duplication, wherever possible.

Collection

The Centre takes pride in its enviable collection of more than 13,085 books, 104 technical periodicals (hard copy), 216 online (IEL, ASME) back volumes of journals and is still counting. LIC has subscribed to various journals, databases, and other serials, majority of which are available online.

LIC subscribes to more than 13 magazines. Apart from this, 16,000 + full text journal titles are available in the databases that the centre has subscribed to. LIC also receives more than 13 Newsletters and has Annual Reports from both public and private organizations. The non- book collection includes1389 CDs, Video Cassettes, VCDs and DVDs, 15 Audio Cassettes and 130 Charts.

Services and Resources

The main document collection is housed at the Centre which has ample reading facility. Most of the library services are computerized using LIBSOFT, an integrated library software package. The LIC at SBMJCE encourages the use of its library for professional purposes. The library brings out several publications for reference. Some of the major services rendered by the library include but are not limited to Reference, Reprographic, Bibliographic, Document Delivery, Data Search Facilities and Resource sharing with other libraries, amongst others. LIC also networks with libraries of leading institutions to offer Reference, Indexing and Bibliographic services.

Data Search Service

Web OPAC is a powerful Search Engine for locating any cataloguing information from LIBSOFT bibliographic database on-line. The various categories under Web OPAC search facility are Search, New Arrivals, Journals and Patron. The Search options includes - Simple, Advance, Additional and Browse. Library subscribes to number of databases and e books related to management and allied subjects apart from number of corporate databases. User’s assistance, Search facilities and document delivery, amongst others are done through CD work station on the first floor of LIC.

Reprographic Services

Two Xerox counters at ground floor of the LIC library are catering to the needs of the users. Articles will be provided on request against payments.

Audio / Visual Services

LIC has sound films/video and audiocassettes on Engineering, Management and other related subjects.

Inter Library / Resource Sharing

The Centre has agreements for borrowing of documents from libraries anywhere in the country, and vice versa. LIC continues to be on the Network of most of the Libraries and Information Centers (NICs) in India on mutual exchange basis. LIC is a member of Library Networks which promote resource sharing among member libraries. Information such as Bibliographic databases, Catalogues on books, databases of Periodical articles, databases of Thesis and dissertations that are available at the member institutions can be accessed by all the members of SBMJCE LIC. Online Services

The Centre subscribes to several electronic databases and journals. Some of these can be accessed online, while some others can be accessed from the CD- workstation at. The users are assisted to access the databases available, download or print the data as the need may be. Request for abstract and articles are provided for in this section. more...

Working Hours

The Centre is open on all working days from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm except on Sunday and general holidays
